Gallows: Foundry of Fear

Located in Christiansburg Va.
So this whole season we have been hearing nothing but good hype about Gallows, so with the first opportunity to check it out we jumped right on it.
We had no problem finding Gallows, but as time told it some of my friends had a problem so some signs showing your way wouldn't hurt.
We arrived only to find that we had a wait ahead of us, but with our simple minds we played a few games( never have I ever, and the alphabet game both we use on long trips to keep our minds going). While in line I came across this jerk, but hey not everyone can be as awesome and easy going as myself. So after standing in line for about an hour and enjoying some warm apple cider provided by one of the two concessions stands we get up to our turn to enter. Upon being called up we meet this gurl and she proceeds to challenge me saying that I would not be able to make it thru with out screaming, and as strong willed to prove everyone wrong, I took the bet. Which I won. Making our way thru the house, Crystal was screaming and jumping. We had a few good laughs along the way. Spoiler alert... You will get blood on ya, but it comes out in the was.
After treading our way thru we come upon the end, which was one of the largest mechanical animated props i have ever seen thrusting right towards us. But just when you think its over, you will be proven wrong.

We had a blast and look forward to attending Gallows again.
Gallows gets a 3 star rating from me. As being their first year, there was some kinks needed to be worked out, but they will get there.

Dr. Pains Haunted House

Dr. Pain's Haunted House is located in Roanoke Va. The cover here is $10

So I had a few friends tell me about this haunted house(thanks Leland and Rob,said in a sarcastic tone),and they said good things about it so I figured that I would check it out.
I set off on this adventure with out my orignal crew, but I did however meet some awesome people.

It was said that Lee and Rob had some free tickets so were standing in line and this woman walks out and says "does anyone have free tickets?" We reply with, "we do!" So she then walks up to us and tells us that we cannot use them on the night we was there. That was our goofs, so we bit the bullet and went a head and bought the tickets. Standing in line myself and Sam realized that we needed to use the little boys room, looking around we found that there was no restrooms, so we had to walk into a small wooded area to use the restroom. Back to buying the tickets, the way they had it set up, you had to go in the same place as the line to get the tickets( which I found just plain dumb), there was just one door,so it was very unorganized.
When we got in the line there was like maybe 20 people in front of us and it took like 30 minutes to get into the house. So while waiting I could only think as slow as the line is moving it has to be good and we just beat the crowd. Boy was i ever wrong LOL...and here is why.
Now the first charater that you meet is a really good actress, but thats about as far as the good goes. Going thru the house, the 5 minutes that it took us to get thru it, we counted like 10 characters(and thats giving them a little credit), and I'm not joking. It took us no more than 5 minutes to go thru it. When we walked out the door we all stood there and was looking at each other in sheer shock. The only thing that we could say is, "I paid money for that" and "Thats It".
There are no concessions stands, but I know now why. With a total time of about 35 minutes there is no point for them.

Dr. Pains has the potiential to be a good place, the setting was good as well as the talk about it...but  under the right directing and hiring it would be a lot better.

Dr. Pains gets a 1 Star rating, and I only give the one star because of the first girl that you come to.

I would recomend going to Dr. Pains only if you have small children going with you.

MIdway Trail of Horror in Statesville NC

We traveled to Statesville NC to Check out Midway Trail of Terror.

So in this Haunted House the cover is $20 which to me and my crew was way to much for what we had to go thru to get it.

So starts out that you had to stand in line to get tickets which was expected, but the line was far shorter than any line I have seen and it took us around 45 minutes to get thru the first line. Then you go back behind the ticket booth to stand in another line about the same size and they one prior. So about another 45 minutes you are finally getting on a tractor pulled wagon(good for setting the mood of the trail). After about a 5 minute tractor ride up the hill, which is kinda boring. They need more actors out here trying to scare you on the way up. On the ride up you get excited your like finally, we get to go in, but dont get your hopes up just yet. The line at the top of the hill is like twice the other two lines put together. The few actors that they have interacting with people in line are ok they could have used some training. So about an hour and a half standing in this line you are finally ready to go in( I dont know what was going on, maybe a break was the cause or maybe someone getting hurt). So you enter into what looks like a shed, and then it starts gettin good. I did get scared a few times thru this. And then after making you way thru the first senario. You enter a Graveyard(you should have seen the sheer excitement on my face). Making our way thru here, we get to this on part that has about four coffins about waist level in a wall(I'll not tell you what happens cause I'm not about to hand out spoilers) but needles to say that I ended up on my hands and knees going thru here possibly quite faster than anyone has ever gone thru there. So after exiting this room I stand up thinking that im done, yet to only find that im standing in an actual graveyard(full of props of course but somehow real coffins), so after full force running thru there I nearly knocked the guy down in front of me(this is tending to become a trend). After the Graveyard you come to this guy who is quite possibly the BEST actor of the season, KUTOS to him. So he goes on tell you in a very demandig tone....watch the steps and the heads and go out the hole in the back...when you get to the maze dont ask for help cause I'm not gonna help you. He was awesome!!! Then you enter the Maze which is the last and shortest of the three, but however takes you the longest to get thru. Enuf said about that one.
There was also a concessions stand here, but cannot say anything about it cause I did not get a chance to test it out( after the long wait we just wanted to be home).
Midway Trail of Horror gets a 3 star rating from me. Once you get past the over two hours wait it is really good and fun to pass thru. So I say if you have nothing better to do with your time, then go for it.

When you have an irrational fear of coffins, you find that no matter what they will get you MOVING...on your hand and knees, or just flat out running in general.

After we got done with the Haunted House(well let me back track...while in the first line...I noticed kids jumping on what I though was a trampoline) I said to my crew, "Hey lets go jump on this trampoline". Which turns out to be a huge air pillow, and us jumping on the giant air pillow turned out to be the highlight of the night, and we really need one of those here in Galax

Woods of Terror Greensboro, NC

We attended Woods for the first time last year, and fell in love. The atmosphere is spooktacular right from the begining. We always go on Sunday(which I love that this is an option). There is a $5 parking fee per car, and on Sunday the Cover is $20 per person.
So you start off walking in and buying your ticket, and then you are stopped and handed a playing card(which is awesome) and when you card is called out you then can get in line to get in the the haunted house. While waiting there are activities to keep you busy, including a few food stands( which the food is always good) there is also a few games and a "gift shop". There used to be a hooka spot where you can smoke a hooka if you are 18, and this sadly was gone this year. And there is also a photo booth, which we always get out pics taken. Eddie the owner is always walking around(unless and emergency or he is needed somewhere else) here getting feed back and socializing with everyone he can, and you will know him as he is the one with the beautiful snake around his neck which opens up yet another photo opp. This is what i love about Woods, is the effort to socialize and take part in making your visit worth it.
Once your card is called, you return the card and get to get in line for about an hour and a half walk right thru the woods and on this walk you go in and out of 18 different settings all of which are great in their own way. Infestation is the first on the list, and will really get you opened up to a new LIGHT on life, haha you have to attend to get that pun. There is also a 3D haunted house within Woods which is deff one of the better houses, I have never seen a 3D haunted house until Woods and its deff a different expierence. The actors in Woods really spend a lot of time on make up( they have some of the best I have seen) and a lot of time going in to training of how to scare ppl.
This year we seen a lot of new attractions and great changes to your adventure. The air pillows are amazing and will really test your dependance on others in your group. On a different note, sadly one of our favorite parts in Woods was not open when we went thru this year. To my understanding it was due to repairs on the Pirate Ship( a part of Woods that im still trying to figure out how it works). But I hope to return and see it open.
There is a few spots that get me "kicking" and screaming so yes this is one of our top priority visits during the Halloween season.
Woods of Terror gets a 5 star rating from me. And you have not lived life until you attend this haunted attraction.

St. Albans

So for those of you who do not know, St. Albans has two separate haunted houses.

Carnival of Cadavers is the first that I went thru. The cover on this one is $10. And is well worth the money. If you are afraid of clown then I suggest you stay away from this one. There really is something around every corner. Carnival of Cadavers is well staffed, and the actors are really good, they must love what they are doing. There was a few places that made me jump in here.
Carnival of Cadavers gets a 4 star rating. And also falls into the must attend.

Reign of Terrors was my second stop here, always save the best for last. The cover charge is $10 as well. This was deff my favorite of the two. As they scared the heck out of me in this one. Reign of Terrors is well staffed as well. There is this crazy gurl who will make your skin crawl. And not to mention the coffin (ugh I hate them...more to come on that later keep reading).
Reign of Terrors gets a 5 star rating. And you should attend.

So when standing in line, I got asked to wear a camera when going thru (no not anyone can just walk thru with one). It was really neat you wore it like a blue tooth and it did audio and video. So goin thru im sure that you can see how many times I jumped. Now to the coffin part, which was the best part of the whole video. So when trying to muster up the nerve to walk past, as I stood and watched my friends pass I see a guy jump out of the coffin, so I instantly FREAK out. And when telling Rachel to tell the guy to get out or it would be bad. And then comes an influencing push from behind (as to say its ok to go). So I run past the coffin full force. So my friends standing past the coffin area, knowing my irrational fear, decide to move out of the way leaving me a clear path out of the haunted house. But in sheer panic mode, I neglected to see the way out. I ended up running right into one of my friends, and tackling her thru a wall. This video is going to be epic, and i cannot wait to share it with you guys.
Im telling you this story because it shows how well the haunted house is and not to mention its funny. So keep an eye out for the video, but dont let it get in ya way of attending the house for ya self.

Jessica and Rachel love ya gurls.

Spooky World at Major Grahams Mansion

The second stop on our October Adventures was at Spooky World at Major Grahams Mansion in Max Meadows,Va.
Now we have always enjoyed visiting Major Grahams Mansion even in the Haunted House off season. This year I was expecting to have a few laughs as I did last year. But to my suprise this year MGM really stepped up their game. I will admit I got scared a few times this year. Crystal on the other hand I dont think she stopped screaming the whole time. The characters will do what it takes to scare you, and they are very interactive with the guest. The atmosphere of MGM is just spooky in its self. I really hate that more of the house isnt used in the attraction, but i do understand why its not a good idea to use it. And for those whom are wondering they are not using the upstairs of the mansion because the fog used and the traffic from all the guest was doing harm to the mansion. As maintaining mansion is a major concern to all of us, all we can do is understand the decisions made. The trails are a little bare but I kow that has a large part of lack of help. The barn which is my favorite part, its awesome...it has suspense and horror and never the less the element of suprise.

I really like the fact that there is a concessions stand on site here...really helps with those whom are in a hurry to get to a haunted house due to working and dont have time to stop and eat.

The only negative thing that I can say..is that I think that the name needs to be changed from Spooky Woods...to me it just seems as if its a place for little kids. And its DEFFINATELY not.

Watch Amelia Earhart, I hear she is a nibbler...lol just had to say that

Spooky World gets a 4 star rating. And is a must to attend from haunted house lovers like myself.

Hacker House

Ok so we always start the season out with Hacker House in Pilot Mountain,Nc.
Hacker House is always a spooktacular time. The characters at Hacker really know what to do to get you crawling out of your skin. This year there was some new faces never seen by us(expansion is always a plus) and there was also some changes to the lay out and of course they were unexpected but awesome "special effects". Hacker House is a must to attend on everyones list. Great times and lots of scares are to be had.
We always do opening weekend and Halloween night at Hacker. Its like a tradition for us. Halloween night is ALWAYS a blast. So expect another Hacker blog.
About the scare level. Hacker House has gotten me in the past. But that was then and is now expected. It takes a lot to get me to jump(coffins to be more exact) so now that i know where the coffin lays its not that bad i just run really fast past it.

Oh yeah, be sure you tell Bacon that Anthony says he LOVES him.

Hacker House gets a 4 star rating in my books.
